Part-Day Preschool
If your child is 3, 4 or 5 years of age, or will be by August 1st, then they're eligible for our part-day preschool program. This program runs Tuesday/Thursdays from 9:15 - 11:45am for 36 full weeks. Generally late August to late May/beginning of June depending on the calendar set for the year.
We intentionally keep the class size small, limited to just ten children, to allow for the highest quality interactions and individualized lessons. The grouping of 3, 4 and 5 year old's together allows the children to learn from the teacher as well as each other, a concept developed by Lev Vygotsky, well known child psychologist and teacher.
Our part-day preschool program is lead by a Pennsylvania Certified Teacher with more than 20 years of experience in the field. The assistant teacher has a four-year degree with a focus in Early Childhood.

Classes consist of play-based lessons geared towards social skills, early writing and reading, math, memorization, shape identification and much more!
What is a play-based curriculum? We believe that "Play is the Work of a child" (Maria Montessori). Play is so important to optimal child development that it has been recognized by the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights as a right of every child. (AAP, 2007) At LOLAs, children will learn necessary skills through experiences in play. The teacher uses strategies to encourage the development of all domains, cognitive, social-emotional, physical. Parents will receive a copy of the lesson plans, a monthly newsletter and assessments / information on developmental expectations.
LOLAs children spend time doing science experiments, baking (learning about measurements and math), reading, painting, drawing, writing, sculpting, and yes - we go outdoors too! Our outdoor play yard is nature-based. The children will work in the yard with large wooden building blocks, digging in the mud kitchen and sandbox, planting and harvesting in our vegetable and fruit garden, as well as riding bicycles and playing in the sensory tables.
